Chairman of Armagh Tigers, Kieran McAnallen took a stroke in 2016, followed by a quadruple bypass in Easter 2018, as a result of his experiences he wanted to raise awareness and funds to acknowledge the work done by Dr. David McEneaney and the great team at Craigavon Area Hospital and Mr. Alastair Graham at The Royal Victoria, Belfast. Most of his time was spent in Craigavon and this event was planned in support of the great work done by the stroke and heart team.
‘An Extraordinary BBQ Festival and Auction’ was held at Armagh City Hotel on Saturday 29th June and saw an incredible sum of £30,000.00 raised for Stroke & Heart Research – Craigavon Area Hospital. This will go towards the purchase of an Echo Cardiograph Scanner for the Cardiology Service at Craigavon Area Hospital. The new Echo machine means that an additional 1,800 patients can now receive echocardiograms to diagnose their heart conditions each year.
A raffle was held on the night with prizes donated by a great number of businesses near and far and a further £2,500.00 was raised towards the costs of running ‘Daisy Lodge Cancer Fund for Children’. Daisy Lodge is located in Newcastle and provides respite care for children and their families living with the effects of cancer.
On behalf of Kieran McAnallen and The Armagh Tigers Charitable Trust team we would like to thank you for your contribution towards this great event.
